Herdsmen


Armed bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen hacked three aged males to demise at Hukei village in Bassa Native Authorities House of Plateau State, ultimate Friday.


The President of Irigwe Progress Affiliation (IDA), Hon. Sunday Abdu, claimed attackers have killed about 20 people before now week in Bassa.


The Police State Command confirmed the killing of the three in a press launch by its spokesman, Mathias Terna Tyopev, yesterday.


The assertion reads: “On 26/01/2018 at about 18.30hrs, whereas our males have been sustaining patrols spherical Rafi-Bauna, Jebu-Miango areas, they obtained knowledge that at about 18.15hrs, a gang of armed males suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have been seen killing people and burning down properties at Hukei Village in Miango Chiefdom, Bassa Native Authorities House of Plateau State.”



The police spokesman said that on receipt of the information, the police immediately mobilised to the world. “Getting close to the village, the suspected herdsmen, on sighting our patrol cars, took to their heels. Due to the assault, some people have been shot and killed on the spot.


“They're: Ahmadu Hwie (male) 100 years earlier; Hwie Odoh (male) 90 years earlier; and Gado Kondo (male) 70 years earlier, all of Hukei Village, Miango in Bassa LGA.


“Ten properties have been moreover set ablaze by the equivalent attackers. The suspected herdsmen have adopted guerilla methods of hit and run. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie, has deployed further police personnel to the world for environment friendly safety and powerful patrol to curtail the incidence of these assaults.”


The PPRO said investigation was in progress. He enjoined members of most of the people to avail the command with useful knowledge.
